The visit introduced local stories and the creation of decorative iron window grilles, as well as how cultural and creative products based on these iron window designs are sold to attract visitors. It also presented the community’s cultural history and local特色 industries. Next, the Yiw Wu Detention Basin was introduced; in addition to its water storage function, it also serves tourism and recreational purposes. Finally, young entrepreneurs were invited to share their entrepreneurial journeys.
Through this field trip, participants gained a deeper understanding of Kouhu—not just as a coastal township, but as a place with diverse economic activities and even a developing tourism industry. The sharing of youth returning to their hometowns to start businesses demonstrated that “reading ten thousand books is not as valuable as traveling ten thousand miles.” This is clearly reflected in these young individuals. One such example studied in the Department of Leisure and Recreation, later returned home to engage in the fishing industry, and has now achieved excellent results. It is hoped that this will inspire students in the department!
